Some benefits that can be seen by using Flax Seeds (aka flaxseed, linseed), are that flax seeds are packed with omega 3 fatty acids per serving, which is important for reducing inflammation, and preventing chronic disease.  They act like as antioxidants and linked to preventing cancer and heart disease.  Flax seeds can be ground up in a grinder to consume in order to maximize the potential health benefits.  Suggested amount to use is 2 tablespoons.  Consuming flax seeds can aid in digestion as well as promoting hormonal balance, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and possibly hormonal related cancer like breast cancer.

Caution:  Grinding up the flax seeds for consumption should be consumed within 2-3 hours, if adding to a smoothie.  (If adding to other recipes, you can use the whole seeds.)
