Eucalyptus has been known to be a powerful antimicrobial and bacteria fighter wherever it grows. It can repel insects and may have an antiseptic effect on the air around it. Steam from eucalyptus has been used to kill bacteria and microbes to clean the air in sickrooms. May be used as a steam inhalant for chest congestion.
